Dodgers Roster: Austin Barnes Activated, Hunter Feduccia Optioned
Austin Barnes Returns to the Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated catcher Austin Barnes from the 10-day injured list, the team announced on Saturday.
Barnes has been out since June 27 with a right calf strain. He is expected to be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
To make room for Barnes on the roster, the Dodgers have optioned catcher Hunter Feduccia to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Feduccia Optioned to Triple-A
Feduccia was recalled from Triple-A on June 28 and has appeared in two games for the Dodgers.
The 25-year-old catcher is batting .227/.300/.386 in 22 games for Oklahoma City this season.
Barnes' Return Bolsters Dodgers Catching Corps
Barnes' return gives the Dodgers a veteran catcher to pair with Will Smith.
Barnes is a two-time Gold Glove winner and has a career .244/.349/.370 batting average.
Conclusion
The Dodgers are hoping that Barnes' return will provide a boost to their offense and defense.
Feduccia will continue his development in Triple-A and will likely be recalled later in the season if needed.
